The description of the book says, “What could be better than pulling on the lettuce in Claes Oldenburg’s Two Burgers with Everything?” Come on…nothing! This is one of the reasons “Pop Warhol’s Top” by Julie Appel is a favorite book of ours. The rhymes in the book are catchy, funny, and age appropriate. As you can see from the picture, this book was pulled and chewed by the littles in the house, a sure sign of love. The book includes artworks by Warhol, Indiana, Lichtenstein, Haring, Dine, and Oldenburg. And each artwork has a different texture. Julie Appel also has books for you to Catch Picasso’s Rooster, Feed Matisse’s Fish, Make Van Gogh’s Bed, or Brush Mona’s Hair. The titles are overworked, but the books are a welcome break from reading “That’s Not My Truck… or train… or puppy…” Copies of “Pop Warhol’s Top” are harder to find than “Tickle Tut’s Toes.” You choose.
