Academy of Children

Prada Foundation in Milan produces temporary and permanent artist projects, including a Haunted House by Robert Gober and Louise Bourgeois. The campus is at a 1910 distillery and includes three new buildings designed by OMA architecture. They have a unique program called the Academy of Children. It is the first project at the Prada Foundation dedicated to childhood. On Saturdays and Sundays, the space takes all different forms as artists collaborate with anyone ages 0-99 to create something new. There is a collection of videos online that reflect the creations at the Academy of Children.

Above is a “theatrical action” by Marcello Chiarenza that is beautiful and mysterious. You can learn more about Chiarenza by clicking on the image below. We are going to Milan this summer, but are not planning to be there on a weekend. We may have to change our plans to visit the Academy of Children. The workshops in May are with Marianna Merisi, exploring painting with flora and fauna.
