Archibet by Federico Babina

archibet

How many architects can you name in the Archibet above? Federico Babina, an Italian architect and illustrator, translated the work of 26 architects into illustrated letters in the above poster and as a bound set of 26 postcards. Each page is a fantastical world, a letter, and a story about modern architecture. It captures our imagination and gives us a chance to practice our ABC’s.  He also illustrated series called, “Archimusic,” “Archizoo,” and “Archist.”  And the animations on his website  www.archidirectors.com  illustrates the work of ten directors with sound and architecture. My preschoolers haven’t started watching Hitchcock yet, so back to the ABC’s:

After you buy Archibet, the links below might help you brush up on your architecture history. I really want to go on and on about why it is important for us to grow up knowing and thinking about who designs our world… our roads, our gardens, our buildings, etc. But first, I’m going to find out who designed my favorite buildings in my own neighborhood. I’ll get back to you on that one.
