The Frist & the Martin ArtQuest Gallery

My husband and son are headed to Nashville to watch the USA Soccer play this weekend. We visited the Frist in Nashville last fall and have so many good things to say about the children’s art studio! No matter what is in the other galleries, visit the Martin ArtQuest Gallery on the top floor. This large studio for children is an open space where children can draw, paint, build, make stop motion animations, and more. There are a number of especially helpful staff working the messier stations. During our visit, they taught my children watercolor and to pull their own prints. There are other stations that highlight the basic elements of art like texture or line as well as concepts like public art or animation. All of these activities are free with admission to the museum and open every day (check their website for details). It is one of the more engaging and instructive children’s art galleries we have found inside an art museum. Stop by the next time you are in downtown Nashville. We are planning another trip to see Nick Cave’s exhibition which opens in November 2017.
